Role overview
Digital transformation within insurance requires rigorous testing to protect customer data and maintain reliability. QA plays a vital role in creating and deploying reliable insurance software; it identifies and prevents defects before software reaches customers and is essential for products handling sensitive data and financial transactions. Reworking defects after release can cost up to 15 times more than fixing them early in the lifecycle. The Head of Quality Testing will establish Generali Central Life Insurance’s QA strategy, ensuring that our policy‑administration, claims and customer‑engagement systems meet high standards of security, performance and compliance.
Key responsibilities
- QA strategy & governance – Define the enterprise QA vision aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements and digital‑transformation initiatives. Develop testing policies, standards and metrics, ensuring consistent quality across projects.
- Test frameworks & automation – Design and implement comprehensive test frameworks covering functional, integration, system, performance, security, compatibility and accessibility testing. Lead the adoption of automated testing using tools such as Selenium, Appium, JMeter or Cucumber; embed continuous testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Metrics & reporting – Establish and monitor key quality metrics (defect density, test coverage, pass rates, MTBF, time to restore service) to provide transparency on release readiness and risk. Communicate status and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Team leadership – Build and lead a multi‑disciplinary QA team across manual and automation disciplines. Mentor managers and leads, oversee resource planning and professional development, and foster a culture of quality, collaboration and innovation.
- Collaboration & process improvement – Work closely with product, development, DevOps and security teams to ensure requirements are testable and quality objectives are met throughout the SDLC. Incorporate feedback loops and continuous‑improvement practices.
- Compliance & risk management – Ensure testing activities comply with IRDAI, data‑privacy and information‑security regulations; coordinate external audits and vendor assessments. Maintain test documentation and traceability for regulatory purposes.
- Tooling & innovation – Evaluate emerging tools, AI‑powered testing and cloud‑based platforms; drive adoption of intelligent automation and model‑based testing to improve efficiency.
